Colour Or Black and White !!

Welcome to my photographic observations,


Today's observation how will I  choose between colour and black and white images.

This is something I always struggle with and I have a couple examples below.

This is a door and frame that I took a photo of in Split Croatia but could be anywhere.

It is in colour and it looks quite good with all the texture and  oldness and it looks great. It is a basic yellowish, beige colour but none the less it is fine.

The second image has been converted to black and white and it also looks great to my eye.

I think both images look great but how would you decide on which you would choose.
Simple solution is to have a copy of each and let a person choose which he prefers.
